Ms. Nakia Miller

Welcome to the Mustang community! Ms. Miller became the proud principal of Nesbit Elementary in June 2023. She has been an educator for over nineteen years in Gwinnett County Public Schools. Most recently, Ms. Miller held the position of assistant principal of Magill Elementary for the past nine years. Prior, she served four years as a special education teacher at Snellville Middle and five-years as an elementary teacher at Hopkins Elementary School. Ms. Miller earned a bachelor's degree in human services, a Master's and Specialist Degree in Special Education. She is certified in the state of Florida and Georgia in elementary education, special education, social sciences, and educational leadership. 

As the daughter of a retired teacher, Ms. Miller is ecstatic to serve the students and their families at Nesbit. She understands how important a role the school plays in making sure each and every student receives an equitable education that will prepare them with the skills they need to be successful in our society.

Ms. Angela Bokelman

I am truly excited to join the Mustang family! I was previously an elementary teacher, a high school Spanish teacher, and a lead ESOL teacher in Clayton County and was honored to be Anderson Elementary's Teacher of the Year. I was a coordinator in the English Learners Department for the Dekalb County School District where I worked with schools to support ESOL education. I received my bachelor’s from Albany State, my masters from Grand Canyon University, my specialist in Educational Leadership from Columbus State and am currently working on earning my Doctorate in Elementary Education. I am originally from the beautiful state of California but have called Georgia my home since 2004. I love spending time with my family traveling and learning about new cultures.

Ms. Mary Jahntz

After moving from Wisconsin in 1996, I received a Masters in Elementary Education from Brenau University and an Educational Specialist degree in leadership from University of West Georgia. I taught 3rd and 4th grade in Gwinnett County and supported all grade levels as the Local School Technology Coordinator. I am blessed to be one of the Assistant Principals at Nesbit Elementary since 2015. I am very proud to be a Mustang, and love the students and community of Nesbit Elementary School.

Mrs. Furga James

I am a native of Atlanta and a product of the Atlanta Public School System. I received my bachelor's degree in Accounting from Tuskegee University. After graduation, I worked for 10 ½ years for the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services. In 2004, I began my career in the field of Education with Shelby County (Alabama) Schools where I taught 4^th grade. While there I completed my first master's degree at the University of Phoenix with the concentration of Master of Arts in Teaching. In 2010, I moved back to Atlanta and began with Gwinnett County Public Schools. I taught 8^th grade Social Studies at Richards Middle School for one year. In 2011, I was a Charter Member for the opening of Moore Middle School where I taught for 8^th grade Social Studies for 4 years. While there I served as the 2015-2016 Moore Middle School Teacher of the Year. In 2013, I received my Education Specialist degree from Liberty University in Teaching and Learning. In 2018, I received my second master's degree from Clark Atlanta University in Educational Leadership. I enjoy cooking, traveling, and spending time with my family.  I am honored to have been afforded the opportunity to serve as a Nesbit ES Assistant Principal to support Nesbit ES students, teachers, and other stakeholders to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and well-being. I believe one of my most important roles in life is to be of service to others.

Mrs. LaTasha Hampton

As a proud graduate of Dunwoody High School in Georgia, I embarked on a rewarding career in education. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of West Georgia and pursued my Master's and Specialist's degrees at Piedmont University.

Throughout my 20 years as an educator, I've taught students in grades 2-5 across various settings in Gwinnett County. My experience encompasses special, general, and gifted education programs at Chattahoochee and Corley Elementary Schools. I'm dedicated to fostering a love of learning in all my students and empowering them to reach their full potential.
