Individual Counseling
Nesbit Elementary School Counselors provide individual counseling to our students based on social-emotional, academic/career, and coping skill needs. This resource is designed to guide students to a better understanding of their emotions, resolve conflict, and define goals to be reached.
Small Group Counseling
Nesbit Elementary School Counselors provide small group counseling to target specific areas of concern through skill building. Small groups consist of 3-6 students that meet for 4-6 sessions. Some small group topics include:
- Student Leadership
- Emotional Regulation
- Anxiety/Stress
- Peer Relations
- Newcomers (new to school/country)
- Divorce/Separation
- Grief
Classroom Lessons
Nesbit Elementary School Counselors deliver monthly counseling lessons aimed at reaching all students at once. These lessons provide students with concrete skills to achieve academic success, college and career readiness and social/emotional development. Throughout the school year, classroom lessons include:
- Child Lures (GCPS mandated lesson for K – 5th grade)
- Virtual Job Shadow (GCPS mandated lesson for 1st – 5th grade)
- Lifelines Prevention (GCPS mandated lesson for 5th grade)
- Conflict Management
- Making/Keeping Friends
- Perseverance
- Positive Behavior
- Test Taking Skills
